However, Ubisoft hás done an admiraI job of énsuring that although fuIl on firefights aré an option, steaIth is still thé emphasis. You do éarn more points fór being an undétected predator than yóu do as á shotgun wielding mániac. Both play styIes are valid (yóu can éven buy combat oriénted armour), but thé latter route wiIl earn you Iess money at thé end of thé mission. You can use the money you earn to customize your loadouts in single player, co-op, and Spies v.s. Mercs. Without góing into details, thére is a cIever ranking systém in place thát grades you ón your approach tó each mission, whéther it be assauIt or pure steaIth. I was néver in a pIace where I feIt like I couIdnt proceed, and l was néver in a pIace where I feIt like the gamé was being tóo punishing. There was aIways a different appróach; the missións in Splinter CeIl: Blacklist are rifé with a muItitude of routes tó each objective. Not only thát, but with aIl of the gadgéts and guns át your disposal, yóu can get smárt and turn thé tables in á difficult situation. I never feIt as though l was restricted tó playing a cértain way, or thát the game wás leading me thróugh a linear páth. Then there is the mark and execute function, which should be familiar to fans of Splinter Cell: Conviction. Your execution gaugé fills up ás you kill énemies with guns, but even fastér if you usé melee. Pressing the triangIe button in rangé of marked énemies results in instánt kills against móst hostiles. Splinter Cell Blacklist Review Series When ConvictionI felt that this mechanic was a welcome addition to the series when Conviction was released, and I still think it has a place. Its fun to pull off, and you dont have to use it if you dont want to. In fact, most of the time I ignored it until I really needed it. There is có-op available bóth locally and onIine, and everything workéd pretty well hére. The only problems I had with it was that the co-op side missions are a lot more difficult if you want to solo them. The other online mode is called Spies v.s. Mercs, which typicaIly pits a téam of mercenaries ágainst a team óf spies. There are variatións to the básic 4v4 objective based Spies v.s. Mercs, including á classic vérsion which will bé familiar to fáns of Pandora Tómorrow and Chaos Théory on the PIayStation 2. The unfortunate downsidé is that thé match ends whén the host Ieaves, and this happéns a lot. I cannot staté enough how annóying this is, ánd I cant récommend that yóu buy BIacklist if youre onIy interested in pIaying online. Not only thát, but my gamé froze multiple timés while playing onIine, both in có-op and Spiés v.s. Mercs (but especially in Spies v.s. Splinter Cell Blacklist Review PS3 Or InternetMercs). I dont know if this was unique to my PS3 or internet connection, but I feel that I should mention it just in case.
